Following our wonderful response to the competition to win a Cricut Maker, we have suggestions for using the Cricut Maker from our participants and thought we would share just some of them here:
- cutting small, intricate holes with precision in your embroidery
- creating intricate greetings, thank you and other cards
- cutting intricate pre-felt shapes for inclusion in sculptural and larger felt artworks
- creating mandalas
- cutting designs from felt and fabric to use in Visible Mending
- making your own stencils and stamps to use in felting, silk painting, and other textile artworks
- incorporating cut-outs, both simple and intricate, into textile artworks
- converting photos into designs and then using the Cricut Maker to cut them out
- cutting handmade silk paper into shapes for use in your artworks
- cut designs in felted paper lampshades to create patterns of light
- creating very thin strips of handmade papers to then twist and braid
- use in quilting and applique
- using the kids’ hand puppet shadows to create vinyl decals to decorate their bedroom walls
- use in English Paper Piecing
- help with all things “wedding” or “party” – invitations, name places, table decorations, thank you cards ……..
It’s certainly a versatile instrument with which to create!
